Meditation helps us to learn that thoughts arise in our minds as easily as breath arises in our bodies - unbidden and absolutely naturally. Practicing meditation regularly teaches us that we can recognize the thoughts for being just that - thoughts. We don't need to follow or get caught up in every thought we have.
Learning and fully understanding this fact can dramatically change our perspective on life as well as decrease stress. Meditation is a big part of my life. I began practicing more than 15 years ago and have experienced profound personal transformation as a result. My practice started simply: by listening to guided meditations. As my desire to learn more increased, I began to participate in meditation courses and retreats. I continue to practice meditation every day. My goal is to teach people the basics of meditation and encourage them to develop their own daily practice. Basic guidance and a willingness to try are all you need to get started! And you don't need lots of time - even 5 minutes a day can affect great changes! Some of my influential teachers include: Marianne Linn, Pema Chödrön, Eckhart Tolle, HH The Dalai Lama, Jack Kornfield, Tara Brach, Daizan Roshi, and Thich Nhat Hanh. |
